The Flycatchers

This Pennsylvania commission was a 200-year-old stone house with the barn and out-buildings still in use. It had been recently inherited by the family for whom I was to do the painting. When I arrived to photograph it, my first impression was of the hundreds of swallows circling the 20-acre cornfield in front of the house.
